A few weekends ago, one of my writer friends, Arkansas Cyndi, threw a little get-together at her place so that all her writer friends' husbands could meet her husband. And so the female half of that equation could sit around and jaw. Fabulous! She then proceeded to surprise me with an ice cream cake in celebration of my sale to Samhain of my book, All Fired up. Wasn't that amazingly nice? Of course, being that I'm really trying to stick to my diet, I didn't actually eat any. I know, a lot of you are probably thinking what a big doody head I am, but Cyndi didn't seem to mind. And trust me, plenty of that cake got eaten even without my maw in action. That didn't stop me from posing with the cake. Sheesh. I am such a ham (dork/goofball/insert whatever name works for you). From the excessive expression on my face, you'd think I was snuggling up to a new car.All in all, it was one of the nicest writing-related experiences I've had. How about you? What's one of your favorite writing-related experiences?

I had a blast having you guys out! It'll be one of my favorite memories from this year's trip to Florida.
ReplyDeleteI will say that I had to delete a few "incriminating" photos from that night. I'll leave it at that!
Congrats on the book, Kristen!
Last year, I did a book club meeting with a group of senior citizen ladies. When it was time for refreshments, they served tea in china cups. For a minute, I thought I'd been transported back to Mayberry, and Aunt Bee was going to walk through the door with the coffee cake. They were so sweet, though and a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your book sale! The cake looks fabulous - and so do you!
ReplyDeleteArkFlaCyndi has never made me a cake. *pout*
ReplyDeleteI'd even eat it if she did...
You and the cake look Mahvelous, Dahling.
ReplyDeleteThat cake looks so fab. It's wonderful to have friends. Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteyou look like you're saying YAY! CAKE! which is the appropriate look when you are holding a cake.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had any good writing experiences yet, other then random people who find out I'm working on a book and want to chat about it, and tell me how cool it is, and how they can't wait to read my book.
People besides my mother, I mean.
And then I get all embarrassed, because what business do I have telling anyone that I'm trying to be a writer. tons of people are trying. then I tell myself to keep my yap shut, because its all awkward in my head.
So... yeah. yum cake!!
Yum! You party pooper. :-P
ReplyDeleteThat was very, very nice of her. What a friend!
Aww, that's so sweet! I can't believe you didn't eat any cake. That's serious willpower :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the contract! WTG! You have way more willpower than I do;-)
