The holiday season brought me a grand total of approx. 22 new books. They weren't all presents - some were won in contests, some came from publishers seeking reviews, one was borrowed from my Dad.
The one I'm starting with was a gift from my brother and his wife - The Life of Pi. Has anyone read this? I've been wanting to read this book for the longest time so when I unwrapped it, I was thrilled! It's like my brother read my mind.
Some of my writer friends have the goal of reading 50 books this year. I think that's a good number. I'll let you know how #1 turns out. What are you reading or looking forward to read? Did you get books as gifts? Give them as gifts? Talk to me!
Ohh that looks good!
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm reading Illumination Night, by Alice Hoffman (she wrote Practical Magic). I just read. whatever it comes out to-it is. :-)
My son bought me a book for the very first time...Stephen Colbert's I Am America. Of course he read it first and put stickies on his favorite pages (there were lots of stickies).
ReplyDeleteI was thrilled. First that he finally realized I didn't need the sequel to Night of the Living Dead (which he gave me at age 13...It's a classic Mom) and that he gave me a book (something you never can have too many of). Secondly, he actually read it. Andrew is an artist, so unless books have graphics, he's not interested. By putting the stickies in really personalized it. We spent a long time going through it together, laughing and connecting on a new level. My baby is all growed up. :sniff:
Oh! Did you get your TKA books yet? I haven't--so excited for them, though!
ReplyDeleteThat book looks good. My goal this year is to read many new genres and authors. Spread the love :)
I went and bought books with my B&N card... already read three for the new year, Wendy Toliver's Teenage Siren book, Alyson Noel's Saving Zoe and Jenny han's Shug. Oh, and my Son bought Killing Brittney and I read that one too:)
ReplyDelete50 is a good number:)

I got "Motor Mouth" and a whole pile of CoW CD's which are awesome, and one of Gemma Halliday's Spying books (signed) also awesome. :-) So far I've been listening to one workshop CD per morning. Learning heaps.
ReplyDeleteBefore I started writing full time I could read 50 books in a couple of months. Sigh. :)
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not...I kept a list. :)Or maybe you 'do' believe it. :)
All right then...I'm adding another line item to my New Years Resolutions and Official Goals for 2008.
--Read at least 50 books in 2008.
Thanks for the nudge.

I gave my daughter a ton of books, and I'm looking forward to reading some of them when she gets through. ;o) I gave myself one book, but I haven't had the time to finish reading it. Maybe today will be the day.
ReplyDeleteI got books as gifts to myself. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh- I forgot to mention, if anyone wants to win ANOTHER book, come on over to LAS and leave a comment to go in the running for a free download of "The Marian Kind."

I read this on a recommendation from my youngest brother. I enjoyed it. Of course, I had to check it out from the library b/c I didn't already own it, so I'm not doing a very good job at making headway through my teeming TBR shelves...
