Since clothes aren't really disposable (not in this economy anyway), we'll just have to keep sorting them, washing them, folding them, and putting them away.
Which leads me to this all important Monday question:
How do you sort your laundry?
I ask because I think I'm doing it wrong. I do whites, darks and colors. But I also do handwashables, which are then sub-sorted into whites, darks and colors. Is that about what you do? I know, this is such a strange question, but I think I'm making more work for myself than necessary.
So...what do you think? Too much?

Disposable Clothes? Yes, Thank You.

I put coloreds and darks together. Whites separate. Don't handwash if possible. LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm with Jessica but if there are delicates or sweaters I'll do a bunch of those separately. What a PITA.
ReplyDeleteI do what you do: darks, colors, whites, delicates/hand washables (but I don't have a lot of those)
ReplyDeleteHubby does the laundry most weeks, but when I sort, I separate into 1) jeans and sweats 2) darks and colors 3) whites and light colors. I've started doing one load of delicates on my own every week (because Hubby just doesn't care what he throws in the dryer). Handwash? If the label says that, I don't buy it.
ReplyDeletelololol...handwashing? OK, bras, but that's about it. Whites, darks and colors. I don't have time for more but I normally don't make it out of t-shirts and shorts, though.
ReplyDeleteI don't even handwash my bras or swimsuits. I know, I'm bad. I separate lights and darks, and sort by whether a tag says to wash warm or cold.
ReplyDeleteHandwash? Really? Doesn't the machine have a cycle for that?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I throw them all in the washing machine together and to be on the safe side I wash in cold water on the delicate cycle. Of course, all I have to wash is underwear, shorts and t-shirts. LOL!
ReplyDeletei hate laundry lol but i do whites then colored shirts then bottoms....i wash the underwear with the shirts hehe i should probably handwash them especially my lacey ones but like i said i'm lazy haha but thats what i do! then i reluctantly hang them all up after they're dry when i wish i could just throw them on the floor in a big pile haha. the boyfriend works construction so he's always super duty so i do a weeksworth of laundry for just the two of us and it usually takes like three loads of washing and then six loads of drying because the clothes are so heavy so i spend all day long doing laundry for two people. ugh!
ReplyDeleteEverything in this house better be washing machine safe. Otherwise it will shrink, bleed, or stretch where it shouldn't and then it does indeed become disposable. Dry Clean Only, means only if I can remember not to throw it in with everything else.
ReplyDeleteI separate whites from our "Play" clothes and then wash my good clothes separately but the cheaper we have gotten, the more I combine to save water and electricity--and it hasn't hurt them. It's the dryer that kills good clothes for me.
ReplyDeleteI separate whites and colors. That's it. I'm bad (with Louisa). I through in my bras and panties and never give them a thought.
ReplyDeleteWhen my husband does the laundry, he separates everything into "smooth" and "rough". I swear.
whites and darks.
ReplyDeleteHand wash? don't be foolish!
I do pull sweaters out to air dry. I spend too much money on a nice cashmere to ruin it in the drier. Only need to learn that lesson once.
(I'm in Wisconsin, I'm STILL in sweaters, in June.)
