I Finally Read A Book!

With all my focus on writing lately, reading has been put on the back burner. Last night, I finally read a book. And a remarkable book at that. If I Stay by Gayle Forman is a YA that talks about the choices of life and the meaning of family. It almost made me cry, and that's saying something because books rarely have that affect on me.

Check it out if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed.

What have you read lately?

  1. Great rec, Kristen. I've been on a YA glom lately, too, and wondering if that means I'm channeling my inner teenager or there just are a lot of great stories being told in YA. I just read Melissa Kantor's latest, GIRLFRIEND MATERIAL - loved it because I adore her voice. And I've read a bunch of very sweet teen romances by Rachel Hawthorne, who is (this shocked me) also known as historical author Lorraine Heath. (Oh, I see you have BETWEEN THE DEVIL AND DESIRE listed to the side - I really enjoyed that one, too.)

Isn't it great to get back to reading after you've been in the writing cave???

  2. I finished the one I mentioned the other day, Tender Graces by Kathryn Magendie. Every bit of it was beautiful.

  3. Huh, I never heard of this one before but it sounds moving.
I'm reading Sinner right now by Sharon Carter Rogers. It's an interesting book with a unique premise. I like it alot.

  4. I just finished Tender Graces too!
I am forcing myself to keep a book open to read as it is good for me as a writer. But easier said than done.

  5. Ooh, I saw that one in B&N the other day and wanted to get it. Alas, I had spent all my money at S-bux. Will have to pick it up:)

  6. I just finished Anything for You - a Sarah Mayberry Blaze from 2006, and I got a little choked up a few times.
I was REALLY impressed with her writing, and am now on a mission to find more from her.

  7. Oh, that's great to know! I love books that get me all misty without being a Jodi-Piccoult-like.

I'm reading a "how to write" book right now. But it's realy good. :)
