Love/Hate Relationships

At this time in my life, I don't work out like I should. (I sit in a chair all day. I really need to move more.) I'm well aware of that. However, there have been other times in my life when I probably worked out more than I needed to.

Unfortunately, you can't "save up" extra exercising.

So at some point today, I will be dragging myself upstairs to our home gym and spending some quality time on the elliptical. I may even get crazy and lift some weights. I know I'll feel great when it's over, but until then...

I wish I could hire someone to work out for me. The Wii fit makes it look so easy. Maybe I should buy that. Anyone have that? Is exercising more fun with the Wii? I know, I'm stalling now.

Must go sweat. What exercising do you do?

  1. I have the exact same problem! I sit in this chair all day and then creak and crackle when I get up. Sheesh.

Yes, we have a Wii. We bought it last Christmas intending to get a Wii Fit for it. It is still nicely packed in the Amazon box it came in, waiting to be hooked up. Procrastinate much, me??

But the Wii looks like fun and people I know who have them love them. Personally, I like rebounding on a small trampoline and will start that back when I return from a working trip to Florida I have to leave for shortly. When I did it before, a year or so ago, several people remarked that I looked like I was shrinking rapidly.

As I have said on many occasions, I don't have a weight problem - I have a motivation problem.

Go warm up that elliptical, woman! You can do it!

  2. My girlfriend SWEARS by Wii fit. So much so, that we're buying it for one of Dd's prezzies this year. (She has athsma and we've heard yoga is great for athsma.)

Sorry to not be the voice of reason in this case...

But the weights-I would skip the eliptical and just hit the weights and walk (weights are fantastic for women-you know this). The eliptical is some modern version of a medieval torture device. I have this gorgeous expensive Nordic track---in my attic. Another torture device. I'd rather walk it off.

  3. Probably not enough. I was trying to go a lot, but then I realized that it didn't matter that much to me, as long as I stay healthy. Still, I need to go. Wish the kids would stop getting sick. grrr.
    Have fun!

  5. I just like to buy all the latest fads. Actually exercising is a whole different question.

I have the P90x videos. Those are a lot of fun to watch, but quite challenging to actually do.

  6. The Wii Fit actually IS a lot of fun, and I like the way it tracks your progress. It can be low or high impact, depending on what you do, and there are some settings where you can have it going and doing stair stepping or running in place while watching TV and the thing records what you do.

  8. I'm a big fan of Denise Austin workout videos. (I know so 90's right). I've tried a bunch of them but hers are easy enough for someone like (rhythmically challenged). My husband loves Dance Dance Revolution and now I do that too. Hey, anything to keep me moving.

  9. I can also recommend the Bowflex. You can hang a lot of clothes on those Power Rods!
