RWA President Pershing Responds

Remember Monday's fabulous post by Deidre Knight on the ESPAN blog? This one here.

Well, today RWA president Diane Pershing has responded. You can read that here.

I'm guessing a lot of people who were on the fence about leaving just got a big push off that fence.

An agent's response to RWA's Epub stance

If you've read the most recent letter from RWA's president, Diane Pershing, in the June edition of the RWR and it left you steaming, you should probably read THIS incredible essay on the subject by super agent Deidre Knight. Read it even if you haven't read Pershing's letter, but you're just upset over RWA's treatment of epublishers and epublished authors.

Feel free to spread the link to this amazing post far and wide.

This Is Me, Leaving

I'm headed out of town yet again, this time to the Moonlight and Magnolias conference (hosted by the Georgia Romance Writers) in Atlanta, GA.

I'm looking forward to it. Mostly. I'm looking forward to the parts where I'm not feverishly slaving away at the synopsis I need to write and to the parts where I'm not trying to figure out what happens in the last half of my book - so I can put it in the synopsis.

What I am looking forward to is the fun I'll have with my roomie, Roxanne St. Claire and the fun I'll have seeing my sistah, Deidre Knight and the fun I'll have meeting a few of the authors whose fabulous books I've read recently (Elizabeth Hoyt, for one.)

Other than that, this will be a working trip for me. Y'all try to get some work done while I'm gone, too, okay?

Everything's Bigger In Texas

Even the soup.
Is that not the biggest bowl of soup you've ever seen as a single serving? Oddly enough, the waitress felt compelled to tell us it was heavy when she handed it over. Ya think?
According to Lara Santiago, the orderer and eater of this soup, it was tasty and delicous. But not by any means the small bowl she anticipated. She ordered it because she wasn't that hungry! And it came with that huge pile of rice!
I had tamales that night - one of my favorite things - and thanks to Deidre Knight, another chica at dinner with us that night, my foot somehow ended up on the table. I know you're going to ask so let me just say I was demonstrating my big toe's mouse-clicking technique.
