Rain, Wind and Hanna

Tropical Storm Hanna is swinging past us at the moment, bringing higher winds than expected and buckets of rain. Fun, fun stuff. Not.

So what are some good rainy day activities, besides the writing I have planned that is. What do you do on a rainy day?

I have to meet some friends later at our local bookstore and while I'm not looking forward to going out, I never pass up a chance to wander through the stacks and see what's new. So besides the rainy day stuff, what are you reading? Anything you want to recommend?

  1. I love a good movie on a rainy day there's nothing better than that. Right now I'm reading Never Romance a Rake by Liz Carlyle and books on writing. I'm got tone of book from the conference to get through it will take me more than a year. I'm afraid to go to the bookstore.

  2. I just finished Roxanne St. Claire's Now You Die, and that was really good. Any of Alison Brennan's books would be great. They're fast reads. If you're into historicals (and even if you aren't), Master of Surrender by Karin Tabke is hot.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Hanna won't be too bad on you, and I'm hoping with all my might that Ike hits somewhere else. He looks nasty.

  4. After hours of intensive nonstop reading, I'm done with Kresley Cole's latest release Dark Desires After Dusk. It was awesome, tons of fun and same great worldbuilding she's so good at.

I think a bookstore is a fantastic place to spend a rainy day!

  5. Ugh...this rain and wind stinks! I helped a friend clean the house they were staying at, then had to get a mountain of groceries and run other errands. I probably smell like a wet dog...

  6. Hmmm.. funny you should ask.

I stopped at the library today (knowing we were in for some rain)and checked out Meg Cabot's Queen of Babble gets Hitched.
    It looks pretty cute. :)

  7. Rainy days are great for watching back to back episodes on the Food Network or discovering new series OnDemand...just did that a month or so ago, watched the first episode of MadMen from last season, and fell in love and watched 5 more. Blew through the first season in a few days. Totally addicted.

Am eagerly waiting for Dennis Lehane's new book out later this month, his first in 5 years. Think it's called Any Given Day.
