I woke up hungry

I woke up hungry and thinking about food, a sure sign that while my head knows it's time to get back on the diet, my body is rebelling.

I'll be honest and tell you that my appetite is frighteningly large. My capacity for food outdoes some men. I fight it, but it's always there.

But I've eaten like a death row prisoner having their last meal for long enough. Today I must return to eating healthy and getting some exercise. (Not to rub it in for those of you in other parts of the country, but the weather here is gorgeous and I plan to head out for a spin on my new bike later.)

With that in mind, I'm off to the store to fill my fridge with fruits and veggies. Conference season is fast approaching and besides being healthy, I'd like to fit into my clothes.

Are you dieting? Exercising? What approach are you using?

Woot!

Some of you may recall that a while back I said I was going on Nutrisystem? Well, as of today I am down 16 pounds. Not bad!!! I plan to keep going until people think I'm suffering from some mysterious wasting disease. (Not really. Mostly.)

I think I'll go have a milkshake to celebrate. Kidding! I wish I didn't live 5 minutes from Steak-n-Shake. That place should be illegal.

Are you dieting? Working out? How's it going?

Getting Thin

I'm starting a new diet today. Writing under deadline has shown me that my time isn't what it used to be and my focus has narrowed to such a solitary point that I will expend brain power on the book, but not so much on what's the healthiest thing to eat.

So.

I've taken the leap and decided to try NutriSystem. My mom's done it a few times with good success and I've heard good things about it from some others. Plus, I'm actually doing it along with two of my lovely writer friends, so we can all support each other.

Wish me luck! If you've ever tried NS, I'd love to hear what you thought of it.

I'm sweating, but I don't like it

I'm back to working out and counting calories. Not my favorite combination of things, say like shopping and sipping a chocolate milkshake, but a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do if she doesn't want to end up in a bigger size. I find that no matter what diet or change of eating I try, limiting calories and exercise are my surefire solution.

And of course, Nationals are coming up and don't we all try to trim down for that? So, I need to stop blogging and get my booty on the elliptical. Hopefully in a few weeks there will be less of it to haul up there.

Are you working out? What kind of exercise are you doing?

Can I get a woohoo?

I did it! I read 50 books in a year and have actually started on book #1 for 2009 because I plan to do it again. It's pretty awesome to accomplish a goal like that. Too bad it wasn't lose 50 pounds in a year. *sigh* But I digress.

Other than a run to the post office and Lowe's, today begins my new writing regime. I'm going to try to write for 3 uninterrupted hours. That means no email, no checking blogs, no games, etc. If I start to twitch I intend to seek medical help. But seriously, I need to get more disciplined and this seems to be a good way to move toward that goal. How do you police your writing time? What time of day do you write best? I haven't totally figured that out yet.

I also started the Master Cleanse today. I did this last year and lost 17 pounds in 10 days. Granted, that's mostly water weight (okay, and poo), but it's a great way to kick start a diet. And I'm hoping to lose about 10 in 7 days this time to really get me pumped up to get back to working out and eating right.

What's your Monday look like?

It's That Time of Year!

Spring is great, isn't it? Makes you want to clean out your house, turns your thoughts to new possibilities in your life, and reminds you that summer will be here before you know it. Summer. And swimsuit season.

It's that time of year when everyone starts to think about dieting. At least, most everyone I know - including me (and Hotrod). I've been faithfully working out and watching my food for about a week now and I know it's the right thing to do. I just wish losing weight was as easy as gaining it. *sigh* Of course, Hotrod just made the decision to lose weight and six pounds fell off him. Men.
Besides my daily time on the elliptical, Hotrod and I have started shooting hoops at the park (it's a five minute walk from where we live) which is a great way to burn some calories and spend time with each other.
Who else is working on reducing? How are you doing it? What's your favorite way to exercise?
