Pow! Zowie! Bam!

I took a boxing class last night and man, did I get my butt handed to me. Wow! What a workout. I was drenched in sweat by the end of it. Even though it was strenuous, it was fun. Putting on those gloves and smacking that stand-up punching bag released a lot of endorphins. Kicking it really wore me out though.

Also, I discovered that jumping rope isn't quite like riding a bike. Apparently, you can forget how to jump rope. *insert eye roll here* At one point, the jump rope connected with the ceiling fan. I believe that's all of that tale I'm going to tell.

Anyway, it was a good class, even if I am walking around like an old woman this morning. A thrashing is good for everyone now and then, you know? And I'm not sure if it's related, but as of this morning's weigh in, I'm down 19 pounds!!!

Skinny jeans, here I come!!!

  1. WTG on the weight loss. :)

I need to get my butt in gear to lose the final 10-15. I've slowed down because I'm trying to make the new clothes that do fit last me until the end of summer. And I live in Texas. It is hot here.

    (Cute kitty pic, btw.)

  3. What was it that pushed you past the plateau?

  4. Congrats, Kristen! I took a kickboxing class for several years and remember how much I loved it and how great it was for my body. Granted, I'm currently far from that great shape it whipped me into and trying to get myself back in check. I'm happy if I can even drag my sorry butt out to my treadmill in the garage these days. Sigh. You're an inspiration! Next time I'm debating about heading out there or continuing to drap myself over the couch to watch yet another rerun of "Friends," I'll have to remember that addicting burst of endorphins. I miss that feeling. :-)

  5. I have been walking/jogging 3 to 5 miles a day and have lost six lousy pounds in a month. Sigh.

  7. Heather - Thanks! I've been shopping sale ranks for a few pieces to keep me going until I fit into all the stuff I *ahem* grew out of. I think shopping is a great motivator - just seeing yourself in a smaller size is a reward!

    Bonnie - Thanks!

Eva - Basically, it was just sticking to my routine and hanging in there. I weigh every day, even though the numbers fluctuate. It keeps me going - on an up day, it makes me more determined to be good and on a down day, the loss keeps me happy and motivated.

Christina - Let me tell you that the fact that I've been public about this is what gets me off the couch on lazy days. Tell enough people you're working out and cutting calories and they'll bug you about how you're doing!

Teri - Honestly, for me, the weight lifting has really helped. That and restricting calories. I'm too impatient! I want fast results and so far, that's what I'm getting. 19 pounds gone in about 9 weeks!

Karen - I feel like someone's been kicking my butt! lol It's SO sore after that workout!
