It was cold here yesterday. Like, actually cold, not just chilly. It was 39 yesterday morning and only warmed up to about 55 during the day. My Floridian blood couldn't cope. I piled on the layers and made a massive pot of chili. (Which was de-lish!) I also drank lots of hot chocolate and coffee. I had socks AND slippers on. Still froze half to death.
I know, I know, I'm a bit of a weather wimp. What really worries me is that we're headed up to my parents for Christmas. Where the highs will be mid to low 40's. My father has already warned me to bring my fur (faux, not real) coat because he swears the thermostat will not be turned up past 68.
I'm doomed, aren't I?
It FINALLY got cold here over the weekend. It makes it feel more like Christmas. That 80 degree high last Wednesday was just unnatural (but not uncommon). And thank goodness, we finally got some rain. Our local Pilot Club couldn't do the Christmas luminaries this year, because the governor put a statewide ban on burning.
ReplyDeletewho knew you were so thin-blooded? Damn Floridians.
ReplyDeleteMy heat is set at 66 most of the time. sometimes during the day I bump it to 70 just to knock the chill off. This house is so well insulated, I really don't have to have the thermostat set any higher.
LA has been 41 degrees in the morning and my toes were frost bitten...well, I don't wear closed toe shoes much, but had to invest in two pair of boots. I guess sometimes you just need to know when to give in. I just got a killer ski jacket. I hope it stays cold enough for me to enjoy it. :) Too bad I'll miss you at Christmas. Hopefully next year you'll be staying in Florida!
ReplyDeleteIt was miserable in Orlando, too. I actually had to wear a coat over my sweater. And I couldn't find my gloves or scarves. Not fun.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you, and I envy you at the same time. The couple years I lived in Tallahassee were the warmest winters I've ever seen, and I still got cold. Now I'm in Colorado, and I'm freezing my tiny hiney off. I dream of the day when I'll be somewhere warm, and freezing at 39 degrees.
ReplyDeleteWhen you head up to your parents' I have a couple suggestions: thermal socks. Lots of thermal socks. And dress in layers. You can always take off a layer if you're too warm. =o)
