Kristen's Got A Gun

Hotrod and I have been meaning to get handguns for some time now, but the election helped us make that decision sooner, due to the possibility that gun ownership may become more restricted. We are now each the proud owner of a Smith and Wesson 9 mil. (And a pistol grip pump action shotgun, but I digress...)

We'll both be taking a class (Hotrod doesn't need it with his military background, but he's taking it to be with me - sweet how weaponry makes us closer, no?) so that we can qualify for a concealed carry permit.

Unfortunately, the S&W didn't come in a sparkly pink configuration. Me with a gun. Kinda hot, don't you think? lol I'm naming it Jane, after Patrick Jane, the main character on The Mentalist. I figure seeing this gun in my hand will help me figure someone out pretty quick.

Oh, and if you happen to be my ex-husband and you're reading this, you can consider Jane my new restraining order.

Does it surprise you that a girly girl like me would want a gun? Do you have one? What's your thoughts?

  1. I don't have a gun, but I was in the military once, so I know how to shoot one. Now I want one too. It would be cool to carry a concealed weapon, if I could prevent myself from shooting myself in the foot. :)

  2. I have visited your blog page a whole bunch of times and I want to tell you that your new blog page looks GREAT! The only thing that keeps me from commenting more is the comments phrase "Divas Dishing."

Actually I do like it, but I don't want to be a "Diva" yet!

  3. Wow. You're a real Charlie's Angel now.

My brother (a policeman) wanted me to own a gun, but he always said you have to make sure you'd use it (if the situation warranted it). I'm not sure I could. I'm a spaz and probably shoot myself.

  4. Stinger went through a whole Concealed Carry certification course, so we have a gun. I'm not opposed to it or anything, just not super interested for myself. And I think I'd feel real differently about it if we had kids.

  5. My family all owns guns, and I grew up around them so they're no biggie. I've sot all kinds, and am a good shot, too if I say so myself. =D I will get one eventually, but right now with the kids so small it scares me. Yes, I would have a safe, but every year there's a story about how a tot got a hold of one.

  6. Nope. No guns for me. I don't like 'em.

  7. You're packin' heat. Too cool! I don't have a gun. I think I'd be too inclined to use it. I'm the gal who watched 'World's Scariest Police Videos' and shouts "Shoot him already!" I'd turn into Dirty Harriet in an instant.

"Drive down my road with your stereo blaring? Do you feel lucky, punk?" ;o)

  8. I have a concealed weapons permit, but only carry my taser. Our guns are kept at the house, but I do take them with me on long trips. I may rethink that if I get the job at the jail. *Fingers crossed* Oh, and I bet you could find pink grips for your 9mil...I have black and silver ones for my 38 :o)

  9. No it doesn't surprise me that you have a gun. Why I'm not sure but I think you're hawt. And dangerous. ;)

My husband has a few guns and he's taught me how to shoot them but I don't own one myself.

Doesn't surprise me. I love my gun and my concealed license to carry! :)

I swear there is a pink gun somewhere. I bet I can find one for ya!

  12. Even though I don't have a gun, it does bug me that my right to get one may become more restricted.
I think it's really cool and I'm not surprised at all!
Have fun at your classes. Maybe you'll get some great fodder for future books!

  13. LOL, Not surprised that you have one! Hehehe, just because you're a diva doesn't mean you're helpless.
    :-)
It would be kind of cool if you could get a pretty gun.

  14. No, no gun for me. I'd love to learn how to shoot one. I think that would be hot. But I could never ever shoot anything unless maybe if my life depended on it. I can't even kill a spider.

  15. I have several but mostly rifles and shotguns which I use primarily for hunting.

  16. Why do you want a pink gun when you have to conceal it anyway?

I am a Federal Firearms Licensee and a Concealed Handgun Licensee.

I carry my Glock (.40 cal) everywhere I go.

I think it is great you are taking responsibility for your own safety, and the safety of your friends and family.

Learn how to use it and carry it with you at all times.

  17. The only handgun we have is an antique (very early 20th century) 38 calibre Smith & Wesson that belonged to my grandfather. When I was growing up, Grandma kept it in a drawer in her bedside table. She said, "Papa taught all his girls to shoot."
My husband keeps a 22 rifle under the bed. He has two reproduction Enfield black powder rifles that he used when he was doing the Civil War re-enacting and a couple of other rifles. Needless to say my husband believes in the right to bear arms.
