Friday the 13th

It's Friday the 13th again.

Some events have been intentionally scheduled for Friday the 13th for dramatic effect:

  • Comic Relief Red Nose Day 2009 is on Friday 13th March.
  • Resident Evil 5 will be released in the US and UK on Friday March 13th 2009.
  • Black Sabbath's eponymous debut album was released in the UK on Friday, February 13, 1970.
  • The Opening ceremony of Athens Olympic Games took place on Friday, August 13, 2004.
  • The 13th book in A Series of Unfortunate Events was released on Friday, October 13, 2006 by Lemony Snicket, also known as novelist Daniel Handler.
  • Four of the twelve films in the Friday the 13th series, including the most recent (a remake of the second), were released on a Friday the 13th.
  • Joss Whedon's new show Dollhouse aired its pilot on the same day as above (February 13, 2009).
  • Every Friday the 13th thousands of bikers ride to the small town of Port Dover Ontario, Canada.
Speaking of Dollhouse, are you watching? I have been, but I can honestly say the show hasn't grabbed me the way I'd expected. What's your take on it?

  1. Happy Friday The 13! I have not watched Dollhouse. Maybe I'll look up the 1st or 2nd episode online. Maybe not since you weren't grabbed. I'll see.

  2. No, don't watch Dollhouse. I think I've seen the commericals for it. I have to look it up, too.

  3. I'm not watching Dollhouse either! The commercials didn't grab me so I haven't checked it out. Oh well...

Interesting Friday the 13th factoids. :)

  5. Happy Friday 13th! Cool facts.

Dollhouse - nope. Tried the pilot - made it 30 minutes and got bored. Haven't gone back

  6. I haven't watched it at all. To be quite honest, the plot didn't grab me.

  7. I love the show. It's enough to get my mind off of things and I like Eliza Dusku...that guy who plays the Agent is HOT!

  8. I can't figure out how to e-mail you, so I'm leaving a comment. I wanted to mention you and a few other debut authors on Sunday and was wondering if you have the name of your book yet? If not, just to make sure, you sold to Samhain, right? Thanks Kristen! I'm excited for you and admire your perseverance. Thus my shout out down the road. :-)

  10. Dollhouse is okay. I watched part of it last night but ended up flipping to Flashpoint. I might try again next week :)

  11. I've been a little disappointed, too. Loved the second episode because it was exciting and opened up a bunch of questions (about Alpha and whether bits of the imprinting stick)... but since then, they just seem to be rehashing stuff we already know. They'd better do something great soon or they've lost me.

I like Flashpoint better. And not just because it's set/shot in my hometown.
