The Joy of Cake

I am addicted to cake. I think in many ways, it's nature's perfect food. All that soft, crumby goodness combined with the sweet, creamy icing...divine!

Issac Mizrahi has a talk show on which he offers his guests "a delicious coffee". If I had a talk show, I would offer them a selection of cake. Would you like a delicious slice of cake?

Chocolate?

Coconut?

Lemon Cream?

Take your pick!

What's your favorite kind of cake?

  1. That's like asking me what is my favorite kind of man. I just like men, period.

  5. I love cake..but hands down, my favorite is Lemon cake with a tarty cream cheese frosting.

Of course, I must admit that though I love cake, I love the frosting even more. I'd be just as happy with a tub of frosting and a spoon.

    Sad, I know.

  9. ANY of those looks wonderful and I bet, tastes better than mine.

Your post's timing, for me, is a riot!

I just made my DH's birthday cake from scratch. He wanted me to make it. I like baking, so , why not?

LOL, I made CAKE BREAD! The suckers was so heavy and only rose to just a little over an inch and the rind was tough! (I tried making a double layer)
I followed the directions! I only beat it for the 3 minutes and I took it out of the oven 5 minutes early. It should have been perfect!
I can make brownies, cookies...but cake, like you pictured, like you'd expect, escapes me. Now, my DH has made my cake into the family joke.
However, I make darn fine frosting!
    :-)

  10. I love all sorts of cake, but there is a little bakery next to my son's math class that has the most to die for Italian cream cake. They make it in a cupcake just for those of us who shouldn't be buying a whole one. Mmmmm.
