The STAR conference has come and gone but not without some memorable moments. Check out Diana Peterfreund's blog to get a hint of some of what went on: Diana's Blog.
Feel free to ask me for answers. I know most of them. Hah!

LOL, Kristen :) I saw Diana's blog but I have no clue to any of the answers.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm officially asking for answers. Is there a magic word I should say, or something?
ReplyDeleteRachel - Give me a number, I'll give you an answer - if I know it.
ReplyDeleteOooh, thanks!
ReplyDelete1 and 3.
#1 - That would be Tor senior editor, Melissa Singer. She passed on The Mummy.
ReplyDelete#3 - That would be Debbie Macomber, another STAR chapter member! The other best-selling author is (I believe) Nora Roberts. I'm not positive about Nora but I am about Debbie.
#8?
ReplyDeleteCan you whisper it to me?
Pweeease?
Hey, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI got a rejection from an assistant editor at Tor, then an offer from a senior editor. (not Melissa) Weird, huh? It's all so subjective. And I'll admit that I love these "I passed on a big hit" story. I probably shouldn't, but I do!
Pssst...I believe #8 is NAL.
ReplyDeletethanks!
ReplyDeleteWho's NAL?
ReplyDelete:::hangs head:::
75k mailing list is Christine Feehan.
ReplyDeleteNAL stands for New American Library, an imprint of Penguin Putnam, that also puts out Signet and Onyx books.
ReplyDeleteThought I thought #8 was a different publisher...
That's what came up when I googled, but wanted to double check.
ReplyDeleteCould have been National Association of Limerickers. Just makin sure. Better to ask a stupid question than send the Limerickers my story.:P
Thanks for the info, Diana. I got the answer to #8 from one of my fellow attending CP's but they weren't sure either.
ReplyDeleteLimerickers. That's funny.
What about #2 and #9. I really want the answer to all the questions, but I'll pace myself :)
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I cannot remember the name of the woman who's the answer to #2.
ReplyDeleteI believe #9 is Nancy Robards Thompson who writes for Harlequin Next (and has just signed a deal for two more books with them).
Number 2 will be guest blogging on my blog later this week.
