Waterstorming

Some people brainstorm. I waterstorm. See, I get my best ideas when I'm either in the shower or in the pool. Yesterday, I was in both. A huge piece of my new YA came to me while I was floating and I couldn't believe I'd overlooked it. This might change everything - or at least make it a much more interesting book. I also had some secondary ideas of things to layer in. All good stuff. I'm excited!

Where do your best ideas come from? What do you do when you need to generate some new thoughts on a piece?

  1. LOL, I guess that would make me a bedstormer - which sounds a lot more risque than it is. I get my best ideas and breakthroughs when I'm trying to fall asleep.

  2. I waterstorm too. The shower is the best place for me to get ideas. But then it's like I dry off and rub those ideas away too sometimes. I hate that!

I also zone out while driving. And that's not a good thing...LOL.

  3. Me too. I have been known to take three or four showers a day when I am struggling to get through a particular scene.

  4. I always seem to get my best ideas in that foggy time right before I fall asleep. Then I have to get out of bed and write, or at least write the idea down or I'll forget come morning. sigh. Makes for a lot of late nights ;0

  5. Don't you just love those "ah ha!" moments? That's one of the "highs" of being a writer. = )
