A Few Moments of Enlightenment

I believe I had a real break through yesterday. Not as dramatic as a tiger bursting through the front door, but ya know, similar in a mental sort of way.

1. My novella - I'm stressing about it too much. Over-thinking it. I need to stop trying to write the Great American Novella of Fabulousness and just write the freaking thing.

2. Responsibility - Just because I've been a part of an organization for a really long time and contributed a lot too it, doesn't mean I have to stay a part of that organization - especially when it now causes me mental anguish. Sometimes quitters really do win. Especially when it means leaving poison people behind. Life's too short for that kind of crap.

3. Friends - Friends trump all. And you don't need many to enrich your life. Just a few good ones.

Had any break throughs of your own lately? Care to share?

  1. You are rocking it today. I love all your thoughts. I think you have some fab tiger through the door moments there! I'm struck. Thanks.

  2. I've been there with #2.

And I've been too busy to have any real breakthroughs of late but I have been making steady progress and for now that will have to do.

  3. All three work for me. Especially the 'life's too short' part.

I'd like to say I had a spot of insight, but I'm short on break-through moments myself.

  4. Those all sound like great epiphanies! I'm especially with you on the one about leaving poison people behind. Don't let your natural sense of responsibility and loyalty chain you to toxic groups/organizations for eternity.

  5. I really like the tiger through the door.

but for me - I've been working on breaking away from some toxic friendships. Its hard. especially when they're going through a rough patch, and you WANT to help. But you know that by helping, they interpret it to mean Sitting with them at a barstool every night inhaling smoke.

  6. That feeling of responsibility can give us cement shoes. It's hard to break out, but I think most times we feel relieved when we do.

I love writing epiphanies. I've been having them this week, but I still have some decisions to make that have me stuck. *g*

  8. No major breakthroughs but it sounds like you're on the right track, sweetie! And I agree about friends, they're the best.

And BTW you're a big ol' tease. ;)

  9. Amen to all of those :) This hasn't happened necessarily lately, but in the past year I've realized it's okay to say no to things when I want to write. At first I met resistance, but now it's an accepted 'excuse' (not really an excuse at all, but you know what I mean) Btw, that pic is awesome.

  10. No breakthroughs, but I like your #1 a whole lot. And hope #3 works out okay. :-)

  11. Um yeah, I think I need a nap. I meant #2 works out.
#3 is just plain true. I have a few close ones and wouldn't trade them for anything.

  12. I've seen people hate every day of their lives because of #2. Don't be them.

  13. Good for you on your breakthroughs! I always feel a lot better when I reach an epiphany. My most recent one has basically been - don't sweat the writing thing. It's better to enjoy the journey than to focus on the destination.

  14. Lobster news and a tiger through your front door, all scary stuff. My name is Herb and Im from new jersey, author of " The lobster and the chicken" a fable for adults in search of enlightenment. Thats how I found you, I get google alerts for "enlightenment" and for "lobsters" If you saw the movie "The Secret" that how this lobster book was born, when Jack Canfield said in the movie. When you have inspired thought you are susposed to act, not think about it or say some day when I have the time or the money or when the stars are just right. The best time is right now, when your thinking about it and your inspiration is turned on and tuned in.The book is spiritual relationship book and really the journey we are all traveling in life, the lobster and the chicken learn there lessons and become fully human in the process. And about your organization, things change and people change, the only thing we can control is how we feel about those changes. Thanks HerbPalmer Jr www.lobsterandchicken.com
