Writers & Confidence

A writer friend of mine is going through a spell of lack of confidence. What's your best advice on regaining your confidence or dealing with this when it happens?

  1. This is tough. I deal with my own personal doubts constantly, but I try not to voice them. I don't want to give them any power.

I'm all about the power of positive thinking. Even when I don't feel like being positive.

  2. I keep good things people say about my writing in a special place (and no, not that special place) (including one of yours, btw) and go read them occasionally when I suffer from self doubt. It helps.

  3. Friends who'll support you are feeling down are number one on my list.

  5. There's nothing tougher. I think you have to get back on the proverbial horse. And I agree with tjbrown. My friends have talked me off many-a-ledge.
