Warning...Warning...

I'm starting a new diet and exercise program again, so if I'm cranky, you know why. Speaking of why...why aren't mashed potatoes with butter and hot fudge sundaes diet food? Why doesn't typing burn more calories? Why isn't size 12 the new 6? Why isn't being curvy more acceptable? Why do I care so much?

Well, I do care. I care that my clothes don't fit the way they used to - and that some don't fit at all. I feel sluggy sometimes and I know that's partly due to the A.) extra weight I'm hauling around and B.) the lack of exercise I'm getting.

Yes, I've been working out and training for the big 60 mile Breast Cancer 3 Day walk I'm participating in, but it's nothing like I once did. I'm trying to get back to that level of activity.

Worst part is...I'm getting weighed today. Oh mercy. I just know that isn't going to be pretty. I also know it just might be the black and white motivation I need.

Sigh. Why wasn't I born with a different metabolism?

  2. Good luck, babe. I have the same questions.

Are you doing a "diet" or are you just watching what you eat?

Personally, I think you're gorgeous the way you are, but I understand. My clothes seem to be shrinking.

  3. HUGS! At least you're tall. That works to your advantage. You might look fabu at 150, I look like Jabba the Hutt, LOL And now that I've leapt over the four-oh hurdle, I have to eat less than my 2 year old to drop a pound.

We can be cranky together :)

BTW, try a hip-hop class! It's fun. Plus it'll get you in shape and you'll learn some new moves for next year's RT.

  5. been doing this thing since January. It's a bitch, but I've never felt better in my life.

Holler at me if you need encouragement.

Also, check out The Cupcake Police. A fellow writer friend started this forum just for diet and exercise talk. It's awesome.

  7. Thanks for all the good thoughts.

I got weighed. Lord have mercy. I am 40 pounds heavier than when I got married. That's 10 pounds a year I've gained.

    That crap stops NOW.

  8. Ummmmm Mashed Potatoes and Hot Fudge Sundaes...wait a minute...those aren't diet foods?
Dang. No wonder my scales say, "Oof Tah!" when I gingerly climb on with my eyes closed. :):)

Unlike you...I don't have the courage to read the numbers. I've been married for 18 years...I'm sure it will be worse. :)
    Hang in there.
For my part, I'll stop making Hot No-Bake Cookies. :)

  10. I watch what I eat all the time because even if I shut my eyes the stuff has the same calories. Good luck.

  11. Good luck with the new program!

I curse my father's side of the family every day for sticking me with this nonexistent metabolism. So not fair.

Diets, I smite thee! Actually, I've decided dieting is for birds. Because only birds can get by on what you are supposed to eat. Whoever said, 40 was hard...just wait to the 50's. Actually, you are doing the right thing, Kristen to work on it now. The longer you wait the harder it is to come off.

I know what I need to do is get exercise. I've signed up for tennis two days a week starting Oct. 17th. If that doesn't take off some pounds, I'm going to scream and believe me it will be heard all the way to the east coast. :)
