Yes, I'm a white girl

I may be Sicilian, Northern Italian and a little Greek, but my English and German genes were in full swing last night. Or not in full swing, as the case may be.

See, I took a new exercise class last night. Zumba. Yeah, it sounds like fun, doesn't it? According to the website, "ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music" - think the Ying Yang Twins meets Ricki Martin. Uh huh. Hip hop moves and salsa swivels. Rump shaking and cha-cha-cha. Heavy on the "yo boy" hip-hop moves. For shizzle.

I felt like I should have worn hotpants and false eyelashes for all that booty shaking. Or maybe some bling. (While I am normally fairly blinged out, when I exercise, it's just the wedding ring that never comes off and the toe ring I forget I'm wearing.)

I'm not sure I can go back to this class with a clear conscious. My mother doesn't like me throwing gang signs in public. On the up side, I'm down half a pound this morning. That's two pounds in two days. I'm going to call this plateau officially broken. (I'm now down 21 1/2 pounds for those of you playing along with the home game.)
I think I'll give Zumba one more shot.

  1. I need to seriously study the Kristen Painter White Girl Diet more closely.

I think I've gained 21 1/2 pounds since you started.
Yes, I'm playing the home game only in reverse. :)

Perhaps you should go back to kick boxing. I don't think you need as much bling for that. :):

  2. That sounds fun. I'll take any excuse to wear false eyelashes.

Congrats on the new pounds lost!

  3. Zumba sounds like fun. Of course you would have to remind me that I need to work out this morning since I'll be busy all afternoon long. Ugh, now I have to go.

  5. Awesome job, Kristen! Way to go.

I think I found some of the weight you lost, though. Could you take it back? Please?

    ;o)

  6. This Northern Italian girl thinks that class sounds fab, Kristen! ;-) I love the work-outs that make you forget you're actually working out...well, aside for the heavy panting and pain they also bring. :-)

Bwa ha haa! That cracked me up.

Something that fun might even get my lazy tush out to a gym...
