Grrrrrr

Well, I'm not so much mad as I am disappointed. See, lately, my online shopping exploits (and how often do you get to use the word exploits, I ask you?) haven't been going so well.

First of all, I ordered a delicious pair of coarse gold Jimmy Choo flats. The minute they arrived, I slid them out of their delicate lavender-pink box and tried them on. That's when the choir of angels went oddly silent. If I didn't have toes, they would have fit like a dream. As luck would I have, I do have toes. I packaged them back up to be returned as pieces of my little fashionista heart crumbled away.

Then today, the sparkly leopard sweater arrives. You remember it, right? It was all leopardy and sequined and had rhinestone buttons. Completely over the top in a very me kind of way. Until it arrived. In pictures, so decadent and scrumptious. In person, more Long Island grandma does Vegas on a bus tour. Um...no.

I guess I'll have to wait until I go to visit my mom next week to really get my shop on. Mom and I know how to make the cash registers sing. Who's your favorite shopping companion?

  1. I hate to shop. I would rather do almost anything, but my dd loves to shop. She wants to go find new clothes almost every week. She is learning that you don't have to buy everything you try. For me, shopping is a means to an end.

  2. That's so disappointing, especially when you're really excited about getting something. My mom is my fave shopping buddy too. She needs lots of help now to get around. Sometimes I have to push her in a wheelchair, but she usually buys me something special. Strange thing is I have 2 sisters who HATE to shop. Don't know what planet they're from.

  3. Why is it items that look so scrumptious on the model look so frumpy in person? I hate that. I used to do most of my shopping online because I just didn't have the time to go to a store, and I got quite a few purchases that ended up being returned. Feh.

Sorry about your cute leopard top, Kristin. =o( I had such hopes for it.

  4. LOL! Kristen I was totally cracking up at the Long Island Grandma vision. Too funny! And so sorry about the Choos! :-( That would be heartbreaking. My favorite shopping partner is also my mom. We have so much fun between self-depricating moments in the dressing rooms to the honest, yet KIND, delivery of the truth when she has to point out that a certain pair of "snug" pants aren't supposed to look like they came with a pair of built-in water wings around the thighs. ;-)

  6. Awwww. I'm so sorry about the sweater! That would have been awesome, had it lived up to its online reputation. And how many things can THAT cover?

  7. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, "Mama always said that shopping online is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get."

  8. I'd rather have your malfuntioned online troubles than the current one I'm in. Maybe I can package my boss and send her back to Germany. LOL

  9. Sorry your online shopping has not gone so well :-( I hate sending stuff back. Feels like failure.

I usually shop by myself. But I have a couple of cousins who are great shoppers and a joy to shop with. Sadly, they live far away.

  10. I hate shopping disappointments... I don't shop for clothes much online. I actually don't shop for clothes much, period. I spend my money on my daughter who looks like a million bucks all the time. LOL

  11. I don't have anyone to shop with, but but but...GUESS WHAT!!!!??? I bought a cocktail dress. I did! I saw it in the window, fell in love and thought, I'll just try it on. It'll look aweful and I'll be able to leave it there. Um... both the shop girl and the other woman in the shop gasped when I came out in it. It's not something I would normally buy, but I need something to wear to dinner at the conference and I have a formal wedding coming up in November. Except it is....scarlet. Um, yeah. What was I thinking?

    (((hugs)))) on the returns.

  13. Sorry, typos.

I live in northern Ohio, in the middle of nowhere. GAP is too highbrow for this community; there was great rejoicing when a Target opened up one town over. So I do most of my shopping these days online. Where do you do your online shoe shopping? I like Zappos, because they make the inevitable returns so nice and easy. But even the Zappos Couture section doesn't really have my favorite designers. Where're you getting Jimmy Choos delivered from? Must know.

  14. Me, Myself, and I are my favorite shopping companions. I love to go browse and try things on and take my time without worrying that someone is getting impatient or wants to go do something else.

Once a month or so I'll leave the kids home with hubby and just go hang out at the mall or even just walmart by myself. It's my time to regroup.
