Old:
Lately I've been slightly obsessed with old movies. Mame is one of my all time favorites, but it hasn't been on in awhile. Neither has Cat On A Hot Tin Roof and I adore that one! In the past week or so I've watched, Operation Petticoat, The Absent-Minded Professor, Houseboat (another fav), Yours, Mine & Ours, Pat & Mike, and I've got North by Northwest up next.
There is something so charming about them. Almost a sense of innocence, I guess. What they regard as shocking, we think is commonplace. It's really a peek into the past in a way.
Do you like old movies? What are some of your favorites?
New:
I'm happy to report I'm down another pound this morning! And the best part is, I'm just counting calories and exercising. While I don't expect this rate of weight loss to continue (at some point, I know I'll plateau) but there will definitely be less of me at Nationals!
Also, I've got a short romance out in the first edition of the new Cobblestone Press Magazine! Check it out - the whole magazine is just $1.50. If you read it, I'd love to hear what you think.

I love old movies. You already named some of my favorites, but a couple others are: Bringing Up Baby, Valley of Decision, To Kill a Mockingbird, Arsenic and Old Lace, Adam's Rib
ReplyDeleteGood idea about the weight loss - count calories and exercise. I need to smack my willpower around and get to work myself.
OMG,OMG, OMG! You and I love the same movies! We could have the best movie night! I adore Operation Petticoat, and I even bought Mame. Saturday's on channel 11. That's how I remember my childhood. Oh! And the Elvis movies! And I have a soft spot for Godzilla vs. Mothra.
ReplyDeleteHouseboat was hot, no? I own Yours Mine and Ours, *cough* and the old Cheaper by the Dozen, and I finally remembered a good one-The Long Trailer! Desi and Lucy.
ReplyDeleteI love Arsenic and Old Lace! Some Like It Hot is another fave.
ReplyDeleteI admit, though, that I love old Westerns. I've got this thing for John Wayne, so The Angel and the Bad Man is one of my favorites, as well as El Dorado, Rio Bravo, and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.
And how can I forget African Queen? Bogie and Hepburn were the perfect couple.
I love the old films from the forties and fifties. Give me a Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn any evening and I'm there. I love romantic comedy, or romantic intrigue. We just do not see enough of it these days.
ReplyDeleteGirl, you looked good at RT, so the dress you are trying to fit into must be very tiny indeed. I'm enjoying your blog - I wish I had the time to blog daily and still accomplish everything else.
Well, can't think of any good ones at the mo, but "The Bridge to Terabithia" was a big disappointment.
ReplyDeleteI like some old movies. Really they were the ones with the big bands.
ReplyDeleteYou're doing the right stuff to lose weight! You shouldn't be surprised! :) Can't wait to see all the divas next month.
