Pump Up The Jam

About two weeks ago I embarked on a new exercise and diet program which has been fairly successful (10 pounds gone so far). One thing I've noticed is the power of music towards motivating myself to move. A great song will keep me on the treadmill longer or get me up and dancing.

Admittedly, my music repertoire isn't that great. So, I'm asking you...

What are some great workout songs? Feel free to give me a chunk of your playlist if you want - I need some new stuff!

  1. I love working out to anything by U2. Most of their stuff is upbeat and mentally engaging so it keeps my mind off sore muscles.

Congrats on the poundage loss...my exercise program starts tomorrow! Why tomorrow... my dd and her best friend are helping me and last day of school is today!

  2. Way to go! Keep up the good work!

Just off the top of my head I thought of Let's Get It Started by the Blackeyed Peas (really fast and upbeat) and Beverly Hills by Weezer (steady beat if you're tired). I guess it depends on what you like to listen to!

  3. Good job! I used to exercise to a compilation of big band music. Songs like Take the A Train really get me going. But if that's not your thing, try Maroon Five. If anything is likely to get me up and dancing around the house, it's their CD 'Songs About Jane'.

  4. Congrats on the weight loss. I find that songs I love to sing are good workout songs. The entire Saturday Night Live cd is good and the Grease soundtrack too. Nothing that has a slow song you can't skip over!
